Stop the motherf*cking presses: yellow is here, and it’s taking over. Pantone recently predicted that mimosa, a particularly vivacious shade of the primary color, would be the most influential hue of 2009. Sources from Pantone suggested that the recent wave of hopefulness sweeping the nation has the most to do with their selection, and “It’s invariably connected to warmth, sunshine and cheer — all the good things we’re in dire need of right now.”
Maybe it’s crazy to think that one color can be more influential over the course of a year than any other; it’s just a color, right? Then again, you’d merit a different response from designers Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera, whose spring runway collections were noticeably yellower than usual.
I’m not sold on this whole influential color thing just yet; but if your co-workers start coming into the office all decked out in mimosa this January, at least you can craft yet another worthless compliment out of their “noticeably sunnier disposition.” Sharp.
