Hooray for zee Gehz!!! The Supreme Court of Iowa has decided to put a little “heart,” in the “heartland,” by giving them the right to tie the knot and subsequently, file for divorce.
“We are firmly convinced the exclusion of gay and lesbian people from the institution of civil marriage does not substantially further any important governmental objective,” the Supreme Court wrote in its decision. “The Legislature has excluded a historically disfavored class of persons from a supremely important civil institution without a constitutionally sufficient justification.”
The uber-liberal hippie cabal of corn-worshippers is the third state to allow mutual same-sex lov’n and the first state in the Midwest to take such action. While those adamantly opposed to musical theater are outraged, many are hopeful that the move leads the way for those in the region, as well as in ultra-conservative Bush fan club, California.
