What was originally designed to be a play-ground to the sexually curious, has been turned to wrecking-ball dust after officials deemed China’s first sexual theme park to be too vulgar and inappropriate. Set to open in October, this controversial carnival was torn down before it was able to let in its first guests. Filled with erotic exhibits and taboo-technique workshops, “Love Land” was created to help the people of Chongqing, China “enjoy a harmonious sex life” and become more comfortable between the sheets.
However, citizens of the country were outraged when the first pictures of the park circulated this week-including giant statues of both the female and male anatomy, and lifelike nudie art. While China’s overall views on public sexuality are quite conservative, the general manager of the park, Lu Xiaoqing, claimed it was for the country’s wellbeing saying; “Sex is a taboo subject in China but people really need to have more access to information about it…We are building the park for the good of the public. I have found that the majority of people support my idea, but I have to pay attention and not make the park look vulgar and nasty.”
Unfortunately for Lu, the public found the gigantic rotating torso-with thong a little too vulgar. Pity—We were sure that for all those creepers, this theme park could have been “the happiest place on earth.”
