British parliamentary politics are to US politics as cricket is to baseball; it’s something Americans don’t understand and wish our version of it would discontinued. That’s why when we heard of John Bercow’s ascent to the position of Speaker for the House of Commons, we thought ‘what the hell is a wicket googly?’ Turns out it’s rather simple.
As far as we at OneRiot can tell, the House of Commons is a part of the lower house, along with the House of Lords, of the bicameral legislature. The other camera is apparently pointed at something called a ‘crumpet’, which is said to have a great influence over British politics. Using a transportation device known as a ‘lift,’ Bercow was able to reach the crumpet, which then knighted him, his new name being Sir Jolly Good Bercow. Once knighted, Sir Bercow undertook the responsibility of keeping legislative proposals called ‘knickers’ from becoming jumbled and bunched. As long as he can meet the demands of being Speaker, Bercow will have saved Englandtown, ensuring it will never descend into a place called Bloody Hell.
When asked for comment, Bercow maintained his dignity by simply rubbing his chin and responding, “Yes…rather…”
