A Florida fisherman bypassed all lies needed for a typical tall tale and netted himself a life air-to-air missile off the coast of Panama City last week. What Captain Rodney Soloman and his crew didn’t know could have killed him: the missile was in fact live and “very unstable,” according to bomb squad officials.
Unbeknownst to Soloman or the merry men aboard his rusty vessel, their lives were in a dire state; as they tooled around the Gulf of Mexico for ten days, it’s possible (if not probable) that the corroded US Air Force weapon could have gone off at any second. When asked for comment, Captain Soloman only suggested this was no big deal—if you really want to know about danger, try eating deckhand Johnson’s cooking.
