Fanboys and girls everywhere breathed a sigh of apathy today as rumors circulating about Kirsten Dunst’s involvement in the fourth installment of Spiderman were confirmed: she’s in.

The snaggly-toothed former child star was, admittedly, not much of a holdout for Spiderman 4—which is slated for a 2011 release—seeing as her career has been relatively quiet since the no-longer-a-trilogy was completed in ‘07.
Along with the announcement of Dunst’s return as Mary-Jane Watson were some teasers about the film itself:
- The villain’s identity is still a secret, but it has been confirmed that he will be brunette and brooding.
- Mary Jane and Peter will still not hook up, furthering his increasingly apparent self-loathing and setting the stage for a very awkward ‘intervention’ scene.
- Michael Bay is lobbying for Optimus Prime to make a cameo.
- Instead of glossy, incredibly bad special effects utilized in 3, Sam Raimi has suggested claymation for all action scenes.
- Tobey Maguire’s alter-emo has also signed on to return, this time with blood-red highlights.

Much snarkiness throughout the land….
