They come in droves, leaving their natural habitats of parents’ basements, GameStops, and computer dens everywhere to make a Frodo Baggins-like epic trek to the mystical land of San Diego. Super villians, Twilighters, Trekies, Jedis, and a couple of Sailor Mooners, all geared and ready to attend 2009’s International Comic-Con, running July 23rd-26 at the San Diego Convention Center (with a sneak preview opening tonight). Autographs will be signed, action figures will be traded, Battle Star Galactica will be discussed, and maybe even a few new romances will be born at this epic yearly meetup.
Whether we like to admit it or not, there’s a little comic-nerd in all of us. Maybe we like to line-up or mini-action figures when no one is looking, have secret crushes on Wolverine and Spock, or hide our undying our love for Pokemon. But however dominate or shy your inner-nerd is, you need not be ashamed at Comic Con. With over 100,000 fans expected to turn up, hundreds of vendors, and an exhibit hall that spans over 460,000 square feet, you’re sure to satisfy all your inner-fantasy fun fan cravings. If you can’t make it, just keep an eye out here - it’ll almost be like the real thing. Except for all those babes in skimpy superhero costumes, we mean - but who needs those.
