Remember the phrase “We’re all in this together”? Well, France and Germany seem to be having a hard time conjuring up that memory. Rather than stick with the dead slow pace of the world economy, the two EU nations managed to grow their economies by 0.3% in the second quarter of 2009, ending their respective recessions.
What the hell, guys? When the first world economies collectively decided to all eat shit at the same time, throwing the rest of the world into a financial meltdown, we thought you were with us. All of a sudden, years before this hellfest was supposed to end, you guys go and fix it for yourselves. Way to cut and run. Will you at least tell us how you did it?
Oh…a government subsidized program…one that looks almost exactly like out “cash for clunkers” thing. Oh, and it was successful. Ours was successful too, you say? Interesting. Do you guys have a terrible health care problem? You don’t?! How did you manage that? I see. Do you guys have something called a ‘town hall meeting’ in your countries? Man, you should really hear what people are saying at ours.
