TwitterBar, a popular Mozilla Firefox extension and one of OneRiot’s original API Parters, recently released an update that included some cool new features. Included in that set of features is a modification to Twitter’s list of trending topics that allows users to find more trending topics on OneRiot.
When TwitterBar users update to Twitterbar 2.6.1, they’ll notice an additional set of trending topics pop up underneath Twitter’s trending topics on their Twitter profile. When users click on one of these additional topics, they’ll land on a OneRiot search page, where they’ll find the web’s freshest information for that subject.
This extra set of Trending Topics has been useful for lots of Twitterbar users, but it has created some confusion for some who were unaware of what the update entailed. So, for the sake of clarity: No, Twitter has not incorporated OneRiot results, so no need to update TechCrunch :). The additional trending topics are simply a result of the TwitterBar update, and you can control their presence in your add-ons preferences. Here’s the process to enable/disable this feature:
+ In your Firefox toolbar, click on “Tools,” then click on “Add-Ons.”
![]()
+ In your list of Add-ons, click on “TwitterBar.” When you click on “Twitterbar,” you’ll see a some buttons pop up - that will look like this:

+ Click on “Preferences,” then control your TwitterBar settings by checking/unchecking your options.

We understand that this kind of stuff can be confusing, so if you’re having any trouble with your preferences just send a shout to Chris, the developer of TwitterBar, or reach out to us.
