AT&T Gives it Up for MMS

9/25/09 - Posted by Christopher Reinhard under Industry

picture-1430It took about three years, but iPhone users are finally entering the digital age. As of today, AT&T has enabled the Jesus phone to support the same multimedia messaging services the rest of us have been enjoying since 7th grade, a decision made in response to scathing criticisms from customers who didn’t believe their over-consumption of bandwidth should be limited just because they’re so much cooler than everyone else.

Apple had already made MMS available to every iPhone user, and international carriers allowed the service for their customers. So why did AT&T wait? At OneRiot we have a theory, but it’s a little brash.

Okay. It’s sexting.

Studies* show that technologically vain people like iPhone users are more likely to score with hotties, and so it’s pretty important to be able to send risqué photos and videos to one another while the rest of the world sends pictures of funny/weird things they see on the street. Honestly, the world will be a lot more appropriate now that sexy sophisticates like iPhone owners can keep thier “hot flashes” confined to the MMS realm. You’re welcome.
