In the midst of all the madness going on in the news, we the viewing public deserve a little heartwarming story. The clip of a Phillies fan catching a foul ball and triumphantly handing it to his three-year-old daughter only to have her toss it right back has been all over the TV and the internets, giving us all an ‘awwww’ moment the likes of which we haven’t experienced since early Full House seasons.
The dad, Steve Monforto, threw his hands up in shock before comforting his child, directing the attention of everyone in first Citizen’s Bank Park, then the city of Philadelphia, and finally the nation at large, toward a moment of true parenting, something Philly hasn’t seen since something Philly hasn’t seen. The popularity of the video clip has sparked widespread demand for more of the same. Stories that stack up evidence that the world is collapsing into itself can only hold so much attention.
So, parents, film your kids and pets doing the darndest things and put them out there for the rest of us to share. Heck, do some of the darndest things yourself. Let’s gather round the warmy warmth and get warm. The Phillies beat the Nationals five to nothing.
