Craigslist, the site previously known as both a breeding ground for questionable roommates and as a receptacle for used futons, has been in the news a great deal recently. No, FOXNews wasn’t doing an expose on the fact that they were able to get sweet seats to the Morrisey show on the day of, nor was CNN boasting of dealing that decades-old amp to someone who was actually willing to pay $45 for it (sucker) - they were covering the murderous inclinations of the site’s users.
First ABC Newsman George Weber was brutally stabbed after soliciting a sexual encounter on the site, then alleged Craigslist Killer Phillip Markoff…well he met some sexy ladies, offing one or two and maybe robbing another. Needless to say, people are starting to get a little skeeved out by booking their illicit trysts through the site Cook County Illinois Sheriff referred to as “the largest source of prostitution in America.” As a result, the upstanding citizens at Craigslist have decided to drop their “Erotic Services” section in order to quell the murderous leanings of the sex-starved. So where will those with a ravenous appetite for both sex and blood head to now that their favorite link has a dead URL? Let’s just say they’ll always have the “Casual Encounters” section.
